Friday fun
Friday is the day I clean my studio. It's amazing how much reference material & notes I collect over the course of a week or two. It's less about cleaning and more about sorting & refining what is laying around my desk. When I do this, it helps me clear out my mind so I can create. I think the best ideas come very intuitively and without too much 'working' of a concept but just naturally & organically. They come just as I drift off to sleep and when I'm floating in a pool and when I'm watching my dog roll on the grass. These are the moments I love the most in the creation process.
I have a little papercut to share that came from one of these moments. It is one I created quite a while ago but I want to share it today because it is one of these intuitive pieces. It is a hand drawn & hand cut piece. To put the size into perspective it is in a 4" x 6" frame.
I'm planning to go for a drive to the beach this weekend with my family and I'm sure I'll find some inspiration and beauty to inspire me and my next paper cut design. Here's to a great weekend ahead. Hopefully some wonderfully creative things will be made & enjoyed by all.

MIA no more
Has it really been 12mths since my last post!!! Sorry folks.
I recently completed a paper-cut series based around repetitive patterns. There are 3 pieces in this series and although they look like a print, I can assure you they are hand drawn and then hand cut. There were about 12 cutting hours that went into each one and they are currently on display and for sale at Red Dog Studios Art Gallery in Samford, Queensland, Australia.

"Love & Light" Papercut
It has been a long time coming, but I finally have a new papercut to share. This one I made for a very dear friend for her birthday. She has always signed off emails, cards & letters with this sentiment over the past 19 years that I have known her & so I thought it would be perfect to send her some "love & light" back. Love you heaps my gorgeous friend xox

My Heart - New Papercut
This new papercut is the piece I was working on for my husband (Steve) last week when I shared a sneak peek of it with everyone. It looks very different now that it is finished and I am really happy with how it has turned out. I was a little concerned that Steve may have found it a little 'girly' & 'cutesy' but he says not although now he has put in a request for another one to do with his other love - fishing!!! It was our 6th wedding anniversary two weeks ago so I thought it was about time I did a little papercut just for him so here it is -
"my HEART is overflowing with LOVE for you"

What is going on today ...
What is going on in my studio today???
(Well firstly I should clarify that by studio I actually mean my dining room table!)
I am working on a new papercut that isn't a commission - it is a piece from my heart (which will be for my husband) and I am listening to some great tunes. Currently playing - Gotye "Somebody that I used to know" (love that song). I am really excited about this one & can't wait to see it finished.
Here's just a sneaky look at it because I don't want him to see it yet.
